Welcome to PS Kids Website!

In the summer of 2000, PS Kids started the Handwriting Clinic for Kids.  Using the Handwriting Without Tears™ approach, our therapists teach children how to write in a manner that is neat, proficient & fun to learn & practice.  Over the years we have received many requests from teachers wanting more information on the handwriting method that we use.  In response to these requests, we now offer Teacher Inservices that cover handwriting development using the Handwriting Without Tears method.

Inservices are tailored to fit your facility's specific needs.  We offer instruction on how to implement five different levels of handwriting.  In addition to learning how to implement the handwriting program with their students, your staff will also learn about:

  • Proper posture during writing activities
  • Proper grasp & different adaptive devices that help establish a mature grasp
  • How to incorporate handwriting into your curriculum
  • An Occupational Therapist's perspective on fine motor development in the classroom

Because different facilities have different needs, Inservice prices are based on an hourly rate, depending on the number of individuals attending.  We will do our best to work within your time and financial restrictions:

  • $80 per hour for up to 12 individuals
  • $90 per hour for 13-25 individuals
  • $100 per hour for 26+ individuals

The following Inservice topics are available:

PreClinic:  Get Set for School - "Crayon Only" workbook for 3 & 4 year olds focuses on crayon grasp, color & shape recognition, uses developmental sequence to teach a child how to reproduce strokes, shapes, letters & numbers.

Clinic 1:  ABCs & 123s - Pre-writing & readiness for 4 & 5 year olds provides the building blocks for developing good handwriting skills, focuses on CAPITAL letters & numbers, helps prevent reversals & reinforces left-to-right and top-to-bottom formation.
